Clock Time Interval Error (TIE) Definition

DspSee Symbol symbol measure clock time interval error (tie)

Active Edge Clock Time Interval Error (TIE)
Falling It is the time difference between a falling edge of the actual clock and a falling edge of an ideal clock with the same frequency as the actual clock.
Rising It is the time difference between a rising edge of the actual clock and a rising edge of an ideal clock with the same frequency as the actual clock.
Both It is the time difference between both rising & falling edges of the actual clock and rising & falling edges respectively of an ideal clock with the same frequency as the actual clock.

Significance of statistics:
MeanNot important.
MinThe min time interval error should be as close to zero as possible. A smaller value will result in deterioration of timing margins.
MaxThe max time interval error should be as close to zero as possible. A higher value will result in deterioration of timing margins.
Peak cy-cyVery important. The peak cycle-to-cycle value should be as small as possible. Any value greater than zero will result in jitter and reduction in timing margin.
Peak-to-peakThe peak-to-peak value should be as small as possible. Any value greater than zero will result in reduction in timing margin.
