Clock Cycle-Cycle Period / Cycle-Cycle Jitter Definition

DspSee Symbol symbol measure clock cycle-cycle jitter

Active Edge Clock Cycle-Cycle Period / Cycle-Cycle Jitter
Falling It is the time difference between two consecutive clock periods. The period in this case is measured from falling edge to falling edge.
Rising Same as above except that the period in this case is measured from rising edge to rising edge.
Both Same as above except that the period in this case is measured from rising edge to falling edge and from falling edge to rising edge.

Significance of statistics:
MeanThe mean cycle-to-cycle period (jitter) should be as small as possible. The larger this value is, the more will it result in reduction of timing margins.
MinNot important.
MaxVery important. The max cycle-to-cycle period (jitter) should be as small as possible. The larger this value is, the more will it result in reduction of timing margins.
Peak cy-cyGood for understanding the jitter distribution.
Peak-to-peakGood for understanding the jitter distribution.
