DspSee: Visual Digital Signal Processing Software

DspSee is an award winning and very powerful visual digital signal processing (DSP) software. It consists of a visual environment and signal processing modules. Each module is optimized to handle a particular task and multiple modules can be chained together to accomplish a signal processing system.

These modules can also be visualized as virtual instruments. All of these virtual instruments can be connected to each other either using a block diagram editor or using a script. DspSee allows you to process real digital signals acquired using different methods. Currently more than 110 virtual instruments are available & included in the package.

DspSee is not an instrument control software, though it is possible to do that. Unlike LabView or HPVee, DspSee is geared towards fast and accurate processing of data acquired using digital oscilloscopes and other instruments.

DspSee can also be controlled and interfaced to using Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft Excel, or any other language or platform supporting activex or com technology. Download DspSee Now


Following types of modules are available:

Data source modules - Modules that generate or import data.
Signal processing modules - Modules that process data.
Output modules - Modules that export or display data.
Plugins - Modules to manage other modules or information.
Wizards - Modules that provide step by step guidance and help you make targeted measurements.


Following DspSee modules are currently available:

  • Data source modules
    • FileImp - Data import from binary files (Tektronix, Agilent, etc).
    • TextImp - Data import from text files.
    • SoundImp - Data acquisition using PC sound card.
    • SigGen - Sine, square, triangle, ramp, sawtooth, pulse, white noise, gaussian noise, NRZ (PRBS or User) generation.
    • GpibImp - Data acquisition through GPIB interface using DAS cards or high speed digital oscilloscopes.
    • DasImp - Data acquisition through serial, parallel or USB ports using DAS cards.
    • WavImpNew - .wav file importer.
    • Visa - Data acquisition using high speed digital oscilloscopes through VISA (VXIP&P) interface.

  • Signal processing modules
    • Meas -

      Timing measurements: Period, frequency, positive width, negative width, positive duty cycle, negative duty cycle, rise time, fall time, rise slew rate, fall slew rate, setup time, hold time, channel-channel skew.

      Jitter measurements: cycle-cycle jitter, N-cycle jitter, cycle-cycle positive width, cycle-cycle negative width, cycle-cycle positive duty cycle, cycle-cycle negative duty cycle.

      Amplitude measurements: Channel-channel crossover voltage, cycle max, cycle min, cycle peak-peak, cycle mean, cycle rms. The stats mod can be used directly without using this mod to measure waveform max, min, pk-pk, mean & rms levels.

    • Filter - Cascadable digital FIR filter, IIR filter and decimator. Built-in filter designer.
    • FFT - Fast Fourier Transform with selectable window.
    • DspWnd - Signal Processing Windows
    • Arithmetic - Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division.
    • Edge TriggerNew - Multi-channel edge trigger.
    • IntPolNew - Supports nearest neighbor, linear, cosine, cubic spline, hermite & sinc (sinx/x) interpolations.
    • DelayNew - Programmable delay & gain.

  • Output modules
    • Plot - Regular, time trend, FFT & Histogram plots. Easy to use advanced features such as: variable persistence, infinite persistence, color graded persistence, dots only, dots connected with lines, markers at sample points, etc.
    • Stats - Accumulated and/or current processing-cycle statistics - Min, max, mean, standard deviation, peak-peak & max cycle-cycle. Time stamp of min, max & cycle-cycle in current processing-cycle.
    • FileExpNew - Digital signal data export to binary files.
    • WavExpNew - .wav file exporter.
    • TextExp - Digital signal data export to text files.
    • SoundExp - Signal generation using PC sound card.

  • Plugins
    • Schematic Editor - Graphical environment to add & connect modules.
    • PCScope - Fully function PC based digital oscilloscope using sound card.
    • Code Editor - Module to edit DspSee workspace.
    • Command Console - Command line console for entering DspSee commands.
    • Log Viewer - Shows the log of all activities.
