Pulse Position Modulation (PPM)In pulse position modulation, the position of individual pulses in the pulse train is varied from its default value in accordance with the instantaneous amplitude of the modulating signal at sampling intervals. The amplitude and width of the pulses is kept constant. Therefore, pulse position modulation is more immune to noise interference than pulse amplitude modulation. Another advantage is that it requires constant transmitter power. The main disadvantage is more complex transmitter and receiver design. |
